AGCA was founded by Alexandre Gertsman, an Ukrainian-born architect and art aficionado, in 2003, and AGCA Gallery opened its doors in NOHO, New York in 2009.
Alexandre Gertsman Contemporary Art produces a series of group and individual exhibitions throughout the year, showcasing both the most established artists, born in the former Soviet Union and now living world-wide, as well as introducing talented, new artists. AGCA houses the largest collection of paintings, sculptures, photographs, works on paper, and objects by contemporary artists from the former Soviet Union in the United States. Many of the works represented at AGCA are by artists included in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, and The Guggenheim Museum in New York; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.; the Tate Gallery in London; Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris; Museum of Modern Art in Cologne; Canadian National Gallery; Australian National Gallery, to name a few. In addition, artists represented by AGCA, have participated in such major events as the Venice Biennale in Italy, the Whitney Biennale in New York, and the San Paolo Biennale in Brazil, among other most prestigious world’s art events.” |
